Tales of Xillia 2 Gets Two New TGS Trailers

PS3 by Melissa

This week is TGS 2012 over in Japan and with the release of Tales of Xillia 2 fast approaching this means we have new information about the title coming fresh from the show floor.

Tales of Xillia 2 is a sequel to the original Tales of Xillia and takes place a year after its conclusion. The sequel features an improved battle system which allows the player to switch between different weapon styles at-will during battle. Direct choices can now be made during specific cutscenes similar to Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII-2 which affects the outcome of the events in real-time.

The first trailer reintroduces all of the game's main characters alongside a look at Ludger's alternate form taking part in battle.

The second, more meatier trailer is where a lot of the new information about the game was revealed. In addition to our first look at the anime cutscenes we also get to hear the theme song for the game, Song 4 U by Ayumi Hamasaki. And for those wondering why Ludger is unvoiced in this trailer, the official explanation is that they weren't finished with recording and finalizing his lines prior to the recording, but he'll be voiced come the game's final release.

In addition to the trailers, more information about the game's DLC was announced. All of the DLC purchased for the original Tales of Xillia can be used in the sequel and some costumes such as the Yuri/Asbel DLC for Xillia 2 can be used in both games.

Namco Bandai will also be including Puella Magi Madoka Magica-themed costumes for Xillia 2's heroines, although it was confirmed at the event that Elle won't have any additional costumes.

Tales of Xillia 2 will be released in Japan on November 1. The first game will be released sometime in 2013 in both North America and Europe.
