Tales of Xillia 2 is a sequel to the original Tales of Xillia and takes place a year after its conclusion. The sequel features an improved battle system which allows the player to switch between different weapon styles at-will during battle. Direct choices can now be made during specific cutscenes similar to Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII-2 which affects the outcome of the events in real-time.

The new character (no official romanization exists yet and the name is hard to translate) is the Clanspia Company's CEO and has the power to shift the national budget's funds even though he's technically a civilian. If you pay attention to the first trailer he is the man in red.

Elise and Rowen also are returning for the sequel. Elise is now a student and still has her pet Tipo who was somehow reconstructed after the events in the original. Rowen is now the prime minister of Rieze Maxia. As can be see in the scans, both Elise and Rowen are playable in the sequel.

Tales of Xillia 2 will be released in Japan on November 1. The first game will be released sometime in 2013 in both North America and Europe.
