New Xillia 2 Character Nova Revealed, Plus New Battle System Changes
In our last Tales of Xillia 2 scan, a new character, Julius, was revealed. New partial scans have been leaked which show off another new character as well as new changes being made to the original title's battle system.
Tales of Xillia 2 is a sequel to the original Tales of Xillia and takes place a year after its conclusion. The sequel features an improved battle system which allows the player to switch between different weapon styles at-will during battle. Direct choices can now be made during specific cutscenes similar to Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII-2 which affects the outcome of the events in real-time.
The new character, Nova (voiced by Satomi Sato) is the girl who collapsed in the first trailer. She used to be Julius's classmate and had chased after him in the past. It's currently unknown if she is playable or not.
We also have more information about two of the returning characters from the original game. Alvin is in charge of running his own business alongside his partner Jurgens, although during the time of the sequel it's currently struggling. In contrast to the first game he is attempting to form better relationships with others.
Leia is now a reporter for a small newspaper company and has a new, more mature fashion sense compared to her clothing in the original game.
The Link Arte system from Tales of Xillia will be receiving an update in Xillia 2. Unique Link Artes, which were featured in the original game and required specific pairings, are accompanied by Common Link Artes which can be used regardless of which characters are paired together.
