New Tales of Xillia Scan Reveals Mystery Boxart Character

XilliaPS3 by Shawn

During this year's Tales of Festival we got our first look at Tales of Xillia's official boxart, which featured two currently unannounced characters. This week's scan reveals one of those characters --- specifically the man in the upper right who was just recently featured in the latest trailer for the game.

New Tales of Xillia Scan Reveals Mystery Boxart Character Tales of Xillia will utilize the contrast between light and shadow, which will lead to the game having a different art style direction than Vesperia's anime-style graphics or Graces's watercolor-style graphics (it could be more of a hand-painted or oil painting-like feel if the concept artwork is any indication). Baba stated that when he saw some of the concept artwork images running on actual hardware he was very impressed.

According to the scan the man's name is Gaias and he is the emperor of Ah Juhl. His voice actor is Ryōtarō Okiayu, who is most known by Tales fans for his voice work in Tales of Destiny as Dymlos/Miktran and as Zero in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. He was designed by Mutsumi Inomata.

Tales of Xillia will be released on September 8 in Japan exclusively on the PS3. No word has been given on a North American or European release. Namco Bandai also released a new system video earlier this morning that shows off the Item Shop and item creation abilities in the game which can be found below.
