New Tales of Graces f Famitsu Details
Following our earlier news this week from Namco Bandai's Tales of Series 2010 Lineup Presentation, images of the Famitsu article we tweeted about earlier today have been released, which clarify some of the new additions we recently learned about.
As has already been stated, Tales of Graces f (the f stands for "future") has an extra post-game story which takes place after the game's original ending. Without spoiling anything, there seems to be an increase in the monster population, which increases the amount of monster attacks around the world. This causes Asbel and his group to set off once again to determine the cause behind the recent disturbance.
The article also include an interview with series general producer Makoto Yoshizumi, in which they discuss how Graces ended up coming to the PS3. After the release of the game on the Wii at the end of 2009, the staff took in a variety of opinions through the game's online survey and other mediums. Normally, these submissions are taken into consideration for the next title in the series, but due to an influx of fans asking for a PS3 version, they decided on making one. The interview states that development on the title started in February.
While this might seem like a short development time, Yoshizumi noted that the staff has been researching the idea of a PS3 port before the decision was made, so issues such as converting the visuals to HD and keep the load times in check went relatively smooth.
As for Sophie's new outfit, it was created by the same character designer responsible for the original costumes, Mutsumi Inomata. The interview stated that the other characters will also be receiving outfit changes in the post-game scenario.
As for other changes, Baba said to expect at least one more Blast Calibur for each character along with new skills. The developers are also working on expanding the game's Shift Style combat system, noting that "the evolution isn't just in the visuals".
Tales of Graces f is set for a Winter 2010 release date in Japan. No word on a North American or European release.
