Amazon Leaks Tales of the Abyss 3DS
While those looking to import Tales of the Abyss 3DS might be slightly disappointed today, if Amazon's listing is correct, North American fans might be in luck, as it seems the online retailer might have inadvertently outed a North America release of the game.
Tales of the Abyss was originally released on the PS2 on December 15, 2005 and was localized in North America on October 10, 2006. The game was regarded as an improvement over Tales of Symphonia, extending that game's multi-line battle system into a battle system which allows players to freely move about the field in battle.
The description for the title, which comes from the Tales of the Abyss: Asch the Bloody Volume 1 manga, reads as follows (note the bolded part):
Asch is the lost prince of a country torn asunder by prophecy. Cloned and replaced by a new prince, Asch finds himself amongst the ranks of God-Generals, fighting to destroy the very prophecy for peace that his clone will fulfill. War, magic & science clash, but at their heart stands Asch the Bloody. Tales of the Abyss: Asch the Bloody is a manga adaptation of a story line from the "Tales of the Abyss" video game license. Their property, a video game RPG much like the Final Fantasy franchise, has spun off dozens of successful sub-properties in Japan and the US over the past 2 decades. This manga adaptation from the POV of one of the series most popular characters, is timed for release alongside the US release of the series' anime adaptation. This series premiere will also match that of franchise's RPG title debut on Nintendo 3DS.
Amazon lists this manga release as August 16, but the wording also mentions the anime release, so it might be possible Namco Bandai, if this leak is true, could announce the game between now and E3 or even at the event itself.
Namco Bandai hasn't officially commented on this leak, so fans shouldn't take this as an official announcement for the game in North America just yet.
