Remember earlier last month, when it appeared that Namco Bandai's Makoto Yoshitsumi, the executive producer for Tales of Vesperia and producer for Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Symphonia, was about to reveal the next Tales of title in the Famitsu, and it turned out to be an interview just about Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X? According to the webmaster for Namco Bandai Games International, it appears we might know when to expect the announcement.
According to the tweet, which came about after a fan inquired about when the announcement would be after this month's rumor turned out to a bust, the company is still aiming for a vague "Summer" timeframe for the announcement. This means we could possibly wait until September at the latest to learn more information about the title.
With Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X set to be released next Thursday on August 5, a late August or early September reveal might make sense, as the company wouldn't want to hurt possible sales of the title.
Last month we reported on a tweet from Namco Bandai's Makoto Yoshitsumi, the executive producer for Tales of Vesperia and producer for Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Symphonia, about a recent interview he has just completed with Famitsu. It turns out that said interview had nothing to do with the new Tales announcement, however.
According to early leaks of the newest issue of Famitsu, it appears that the interview, in which he was accompanied by a female producer, only talked about Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X, not the rumored Tales of Unitia.
If Namco Bandai is still looking for a summer reveal of the title(s), the announcement should be coming in the next few months. We'll keep on top of any upcoming development as they happen.
According to a recent radio interview that was leaked online, it appears that the rumored PS3 Tales of title, rumored to be named Tales of Unitia, has been confirmed with a release date, alongside another PSP Tales title.
According to the interview, the next Tales series title will be exclusive to the PS3 in Japan and will be released sometime during Fall 2010, which would mean that much of the game should have already been completed by now, which isn't that huge of a stretch considering the "Team Symphonia" part of Namco Tales Studio's last game was back in 2008 and most of the main team likely didn't take part in the PS3 port of Tales of Vesperia.
In addition, the interview also stated that an unnamed PSP Tales title would be be released sometime in the future, although no specific information was mentioned.
Namco Bandai's Makoto Yoshitsumi, the executive producer for Tales of Vesperia and producer for Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Symphonia, is the "big boss" when it comes to the Tales series. So when he tweets that he just got done with an interview with Famitsu, it's clear that something big is about to happen in a an upcoming issue of the magazine.
In his Twitter post, he told his followers on Twitter to look forward to a report in the issue of the magazine that's coming out two weeks from now --- July 15th. We reported earlier this month that Namco Bandai was planning a Summer reveal of a new Tales title during their annual Tales of Festival earlier this month. This would fall directly into that timeline, which could be the rumoured Tales of Unitia that's said to be in-development on the PS3.
In the past Tales games have been revealed either in issues of Weekly Shonen Jump or at press conferences a day or two before Famitsu's reveal, so fans should keep on a lookout for any news as we get closer to July 15th.
Earlier today was the first day of Tales of Festival 2010, which brought some new news along with it, along with partial results of the Tales of Popularity poll that was going on at Tales Channel earlier this year.
Namco Bandai has confirmed the rumors that Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X will be having demos. The first demo will hit in early July, which will focus on the improved battle system in the Tales of Phantasia part of the game. Later in the month, a second demo will hit which features the Narikiri Dungeon X portion of the game. The rumored August 5, 2010 release date was also confirmed at the event.
As for the rumored PS3 Tales game, known as Tales of Unitia, the game was a no-show at the Festival except for a mention that this Summer a "major" announcement would occur. It's unknown why they would push the unveiling that far, but they may be putting some extra polish on the game and didn't want to unveil it just yet.
