A new Director's Corner video has been released on the official website for Tales of VS. The game will pit the various Tales of characters in a fighting free-for-all, using their well-known Artes, locations from the different games, and even items from the various games, as well as each character's unique Mystic Arte.
The video first features Philia Felice (Tales of Destiny) and Tear Grants (Tales of the Abyss). This part of the video is meant to show how you can use items in conjunction with special attacks (in this case spells) to deal more damage, as Philia does to push Tear into the mine-like object. The other half of the video features Senel Coolidge (Tales of Legendia) and Stahn Aileron (Tales of Destiny). This part of the video shows how one can use the walls in the battlefield to chain together attacks by hitting them before they can land, as can be seen in Senel's 19-hit combo.
Nanaly Fletch (Tales of Destiny 2), Jade Curtiss (Tales of the Abyss), Philia Felice (Tales of Destiny) and Mao (Tales of Rebirth) have been officially revealed to be in Tales of VS. The game will pit the various Tales of characters in a fighting free-for-all, using their well-known Artes, locations from the different games, and even items from the various games, as well as each character's unique Mystic Arte.
All four character videos follow the same patterns as the ones before --- showing off some combo attacks, followed by their own personal Mystic Arte. Nanaly Fletch will have Wild Geese, Jade Curtiss will have Mystic Cage, Philia Felice will have Sacred Penance, and Mao will have Inferno Drive.
A new Tales of VS. scan has been released today. Two of the presumed characters have been confirmed, and hints of a character customization mode have been revealed. The game will pit the various Tales of characters in a fighting free-for-all, using their well-known Artes, locations from the different games, and even items from the various games, as well as each character's unique Mystic Arte.
Philia Felice (Tales of Destiny) and Mao (Tales of Rebirth), who we assumed were in the game due to their pictures appearing in a battle screenshot, have been "officially" confirmed as playable. No official word on Lloyd Irving or Colette Brunel (both from Tales of Symphonia), however.
If you look in the middle of the right-hand side of the scan, you will see four different Luke fon Fabre's. This means the game is likely using a system similar to Super Smash Bros. where different color schemes are used when a character is used by more than one player so they can be differentiated. One of them seems to be using the short-hair character model (the third one), although it's unknown if the fourth model is also using it (the scan is too blurry). No word if the player has a choice on which model they want to use.
Six more characters have been revealed to be in the upcoming Tales of VS. for the PlayStation Portable (PSP), which will pit the various Tales of characters in a fighting free-for-all, using their well-known Artes, locations from the different games, and even items from the various games, as well as each character's unique Mystic Arte.
Jade Curtiss (Tales of the Abyss), Nanaly Fletch (Tales of Destiny 2), and Arche Klaine (Tales of Phantasia) have been confirmed directly in the scan. We can also assume Lloyd Irving and Colette Brunel (both from Tales of Symphonia) will also be present, since their skit faces are included in a screenshot from the main game (not the Narikiri Dungeon-like mini game). The scan also seems to hint at a multiplayer mode being present (which was assumed due to the premise of the game).
