Luke and Guy Represent Abyss In New Twin Brave Trailers

PSP by Shawn

Every couple weeks Namco Bandai releases a new batch of character-based trailers for their upcoming Sony PSP title Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave. This week Tales of the Abyss is being featured with videos for two of that game's heroes: Luke and Guy.

Unlike the other Tales escort titles on the PSP, this game plays similarly to the Musou/Dynasty Warriors franchise with the player controlling one character with a partner character being controlled by the game's AI. Characters from the mothership titles (and surprisingly enough Tales of the Tempest) will be included.

Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave will be released in Japan on February 23, 2012 for the Sony PSP. No North American or European release has been announced.

Tales of VS: Yet Another Director's Corner Video

PSP by Shawn

A new Director's Corner Video has been added to the official minisite for Tales of VS. on Tales Channel, the Japanese hub for the Tales of series. The game will pit the various Tales of characters in a fighting free-for-all, using their well-known Artes, locations from the different games, and even items from the various games, as well as each character's unique Mystic Arte.

Like before, this is a combo video. The first half has the Director facing off against Luke fon Fabre using Asch. He deals a myriad of combo attacks against Luke, ending with Asch's Mystic Arte. The other half has the Director facing off against Lloyd Irving using Kratos Aurion, again dealing a string of combos and finishing with an Mystic Arte.

Tales of VS: Ruca and Asch Revealed Plus Another Video

PSP by Shawn

Asch (Tales of the Abyss) and Ruca Milda (Tales of Innocence) have been officially revealed to be in Tales of VS, as well as a new video showing off the combos in the game. The game will pit the various Tales of characters in a fighting free-for-all, using their well-known Artes, locations from the different games, and even items from the various games, as well as each character's unique Mystic Arte.

Asch and Ruca's videos were the standard fare as far as character videos are concerned, showing off their attacks and combos, followed by their respective Mystic Artes at the end of the video. One of the more interesting updates, however, came from that character that fell on the index page a few updates ago. It appears it is a representation of the game's director. This section will be used as a Director's Corner, which will have specialized updates, most of which will be combo videos. The video available in this update shows the intricacies of the combo system in the game, which will take cues from the previous Tales of games.

More information, as well as the videos, can be found in the full story.

Four New Tales of VS. Videos

PSP by Shawn

Four more Tales of VS. videos have been released (Shing Meteorite, Yuri Lowell, Luke fon Fabre, and Richter Abend). The game will pit the various Tales of characters in a fighting free-for-all, using their well-known Artes, locations from the different games, and even items from the various games, as well as each character's unique Mystic Arte.

The videos show us some new information about the game. There will be 2-vs-2 teams available (as can be seen in Shing's video when one team is the "green" team and the other is the "yellow" team). Also, some attacks will be able to "push" the other characters off to the edges of the field, much like some of the special attacks in games like Super Smash Bros. Some of these abilities had been hinted earlier, but it's much easier to notice them when you can see them in action.

The videos can be found in the full story.

Tales of VS. Allows Character Customization

PSP by Shawn

A new Tales of VS. scan has been released today. Two of the presumed characters have been confirmed, and hints of a character customization mode have been revealed. The game will pit the various Tales of characters in a fighting free-for-all, using their well-known Artes, locations from the different games, and even items from the various games, as well as each character's unique Mystic Arte.

Philia Felice (Tales of Destiny) and Mao (Tales of Rebirth), who we assumed were in the game due to their pictures appearing in a battle screenshot, have been "officially" confirmed as playable. No official word on Lloyd Irving or Colette Brunel (both from Tales of Symphonia), however.

Tales of VS., Namco Bandai, Sony PSP, SonyTales of VS., Namco Bandai, Sony PSP, Sony If you look in the middle of the right-hand side of the scan, you will see four different Luke fon Fabre's. This means the game is likely using a system similar to Super Smash Bros. where different color schemes are used when a character is used by more than one player so they can be differentiated. One of them seems to be using the short-hair character model (the third one), although it's unknown if the fourth model is also using it (the scan is too blurry). No word if the player has a choice on which model they want to use.
