New Tales scans, coming from Weekly Shonen Jump and what appears to be a Famitsu scan, have been released, although there doesn't seem to be any new major information, as well as no word of that Famitsu interview.
The first scan shows off the full-body artwork for Norn, the being which watches over Mel and Dio. The second scan shows some of the Mystic Arte cut-ins, namely for Mel and Dio.
Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X is set for an August 5, 2010 release date in Japan. No word on an North American or European release.
A new Weekly Shonen Jump scan has been released which reveals some new information about some returning characters, changes to the battle system, as well as the official theme song for the game. Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X is a remake of the original game which appeared on the Game Boy Color back in 2000 in Japan.
First off, the character Kururu, which tagged along with the two main characters in the original game, but up till now appeared to have been replaced by the new character Etos, will be making a comeback, both in the game and in-battle, although to what degree it will be present is yet to be discovered.
According to the scan, it also seems switching between characters will be much easier than in some of the previous games, so it may be possible a Tales of Graces-like system is being implemented for quick character switching. No word on much more information about the Emotional Brave Gauge from earlier scans, but it appears to at least replace TP, as expected.
The final bit of news, which had been previously rumored earlier this week, is the official theme song for the game. The scan reveals that Hanako Oku's Glass Flowers will be the official theme song for Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X.
Only a few days before the official release of Tales of VS., it seems Namco Bandai has put in yet another extra, this time in the form of special battles and weapons. The game will pit the various Tales of characters in a fighting free-for-all, using their well-known Artes, locations from the different games, and even items from the various games, as well as each character's unique Mystic Arte.
In addition to being able to download special battles, it also appears special items, such as the joke weapon Cotton Candy, will be available. By going to Connection -> Network Communication in the game's menu, you can enter in codes, such as JUMPSPBATTLEWJVJM which was revealed in the scan, which allows you to download the item.
Tales of VS. is set to be released on the PlayStation Portable this Thursday in Japan.
A new Weekly Shonen Jump Tales of Graces scan has been released, which seems to have revealed two new playable characters, as well as some new information about the PlayStation 3 port of Tales of Vesperia. This game is the first mothership (Namco Bandai's term for non-spin-off games in the Tales of series) game for the Wii. The previous Tales of game for the Wii, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, was classified as a spin-off sequel.
The black-haired male's name is Hubert Oswell (voiced by Takahiro Mizushima) and is Asbel's younger brother (by one year). The red-haired female's name is Shelia Barnes/Burns (voiced by Shiho Kawaragi) and is the granddaughter of the butler working for Asbel. It appears the male favors close-hand combat, while the female uses spells to attack. The scan also shows a new swimsuit costume for Flynn, entitled Short-Sleeved Prince, which has Mieu from Tales of the Abyss on the logo.
A new Weekly Shonen Jump scan has revealed the release date for the PlayStation 3 port of Tales of Vesperia, which originally appeared on the Xbox 360 almost a year ago. The PlayStation 3 port of Tales of Vesperia includes numerous extras and changes, such as a brand new character, Patty Fleur, the addition of new bosses like the Sword Dancer, Flynn being playable for more that just one battle, among other changes. The game will also be fully voiced and will include new and altered scenes, such as Yuri fighting Don Whitehorse when the party visits Keiv Moc.
The PlayStation 3 port will be released on September 17th in Japan. The opening animated cutscene, as well as the event cutscenes, will be redone to include Patty, so it seems like she is being added in as a normal character instead of an extra "hidden" character. The scan also hints at a new Giganto Monster being available. In the original Xbox 360 version, they were monsters that were much bigger and tougher than your normal monster, forcing the player to wait till they were near the end of the game to fight them without getting instantly killed.
