Tales of Xillia Trademark Also Shows Up In U.S.

XilliaPS3Trademarks by Shawn

Last week Namco Bandai filed a European trademark for Tales of Xillia. And it's come to light that the publisher has filed another trademark for the game but this time in North America.

Tales of Xillia utilizes the contrast between light and shadow, which will lead to the game having a different art style direction than Vesperia's anime-style graphics or Graces's watercolor-style graphics. Baba stated that when he saw some of the concept artwork images running on actual hardware he was very impressed.

It's important to note that while Namco Bandai has filed the trademark (on March 21, 2012, according to records), it's not a clear indication that said trademark is guaranteed to be used. However, considering all of the recent console mothership titles have been released up until now in North America in one way or another it has a better chance of being used compared to games such as Tales of Innocence or Tales of Hearts.

XilliaPS3Trademarks by Shawn

Namco Bandai has been filing and re-filing some of their Tales trademarks as of late, but the latest one that has appeared in the European database is quite interesting for the fact that it might actually have a chance of being used: Tales of Xillia.

Tales of Xillia utilizes the contrast between light and shadow, which will lead to the game having a different art style direction than Vesperia's anime-style graphics or Graces's watercolor-style graphics. Baba stated that when he saw some of the concept artwork images running on actual hardware he was very impressed.

Tales of Xillia Was Rushed, Says Hideo Baba

XilliaPS3 by Shawn

When Japanese gamers got their copies of Tales of Xillia earlier this year they couldn't help but notice that there were some features missing that had been included in previous Tales of releases. Thanks to an interview found in the full official Tales of Xillia guide those thoughts have been confirmed straight from Hideo Baba himself.

Tales of Xillia utilizes the contrast between light and shadow, which will lead to the game having a different art style direction than Vesperia's anime-style graphics or Graces's watercolor-style graphics. Baba stated that when he saw some of the concept artwork images running on actual hardware he was very impressed.

According to the interview many planned elements were forced to be discarded due to time constraints, including the following...

Tales of Xillia Gets In The Season With New DLC Costumes

XilliaPS3 by Shawn

It's been a while since we last heard about DLC for Tales of Xillia, which was right around the time of the game's release back in September. With the holiday season fast approaching Namco Bandai has announced a new set of festive-themed DLC for the entire playable cast.

Tales of Xillia will utilize the contrast between light and shadow, which will lead to the game having a different art style direction than Vesperia's anime-style graphics or Graces's watercolor-style graphics (it could be more of a hand-painted or oil painting-like feel if the concept artwork is any indication). Baba stated that when he saw some of the concept artwork images running on actual hardware he was very impressed.

The DLC will be added to the PlayStation Store on December 1, 2011. If you want the full set you'll have to buy each one individually as they will be sold individually for ¥300 each.

Rumor: Tales of Xillia The Animation Announcement Later This Month

Xillia by Shawn

Those who followed Tales of Xillia over the last year leading up to its release know that the game has some incredible animated cutscenes thanks to ufotable. According to a retail shop leak via 7-Eleven in Japan it appears Namco Bandai is taking that to the next level with, you guessed it, an anime adaptation.

This leak focuses around the January 2012 edition of the Japan-only Viva Tales of Magazine that's been running over there for a while now. The description for the page mentions the phrase "Tales of Xillia: The Animation" but nothing else.

Of course, Namco Bandai has yet to official announce anything or respond to this leak so it's still a rumor, but this was the same website that broke the news about Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker so it may have some weight behind it compared to other "leaks" in the past.

As always, if we learn any more information we'll be sure to let you know.

UPDATE (11/25): Appears that the leak was referring to the Tales of Symphonia animation, not Xillia.

Tales of Xillia Sells Over 500,000+ Copies In Its First Week

XilliaPS3 by Shawn

Tales of Xillia has been on sale for almost a week now since it's September 8th release, which means one thing: sales figures have been released. And Namco Bandai should be pleased --- the game sold over 500k in sales in its first week alone.

Tales of Xillia Will Feature An Arena

XilliaPS3 by Shawn

The last time we got a scan we learned about new past Tales heroes costume DLC. We have another new scan today and while it doesn't feature much in the way of new information there is something hidden in it that fans of previous entries in the series will enjoy.

If you look at the middle-left area of the scan it's clear that the player is fighting inside an arena, which fans of previous games such as Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Vesperia should remember fondly. No exact specifics seem to be mentioned but it's likely that the cameo fights will be included again if they are adding this mode back into Tales of Xillia.

For those that have been following our recent Tales of Xillia coverage you know that Namco Bandai has been releasing a plethora of information about the game as of late. This continues tonight with a new batch of videos being added to the official website.

The first video is the expected character video for Rowen who up until now hadn't had his own. The second video showcases the Star Driver DLC available alongside Tales of Xillia's release next month. The third and final video gives us a better look at the attachment system --- specifically the resizing and positioning of the attachments that was recently revealed.
