Tales of Xillia Is Next PS3 Tales of

XilliaPS3Rumours by Shawn

Last month, we uncovered new trademarks for possible names for the next Tales of title. It seems Namco Bandai has put up the sub-domain for the official website up early, and it looks like we can infer what the final name is: Tales of Xillia.

The game will utilize the contrast between light and shadow, which will lead to the game having a different art style direction than Vesperia's anime-style graphics or Graces's watercolor-style graphics (it could be more of a hand-painted or oil painting-like feel if the concept artwork is any indication). Baba stated that when he saw some of the concept artwork images running on actual hardware he was very impressed.

Right now, the sub-domain has a website The Idolmaster as placeholder, likely until they actually get ready to reveal the game next month.

It's currently unknown what else Tales of Xillia will entail besides knowing the name, as well as any chances of a Western release.

New Tales Trademarks Filed, Possibly for Upcoming Tales of PS3

PS3XilliaTrademarks by Shawn

Since the reveal of the next PS3 Tales game, we haven't heard much about the title, save the occasional concept artwork that's leaked over the last few months. Namco Bandai, however, has just filed more trademarks, which might let us gleam the possible title for the currently unnamed entry in the series.

2010-065777 Tales of Xillia
2010-065778 Tales of Faithus
2010-065779 Tales of Zestia

The first two trademarks are essentially alternate pronunciations of the third trademark, Xillia. While it's not clear if the game will pick from these trademarks, the previous batch of trademarks were filed back before Graces's release, which could mean those were meant as alternate trademarks for that game.

Whatever the case, we'll have to wait until this December to find out, which is when the official website for the game will be properly unveiled.

This Week In Tales: August 8, 2010

This Week InGraces f by Shawn

Today has been a crazy week, hasn't it? Namco Bandai threw us a curve ball with the surprise announcement of Tales of Graces on the PS3, confirmation of the third game in the Radiant Mythology series and our first look at the next Tales title, exclusive for the PS3. And to make things more interesting, Namco Bandai made the news not once, not twice, but three different times.

Namco Bandai
- Namco: We're Working On US Tales Releases
- New Tales Post Vanishes From Company Facebook Wall
- Namco Bandai And Namco Networks Set To Merge
- Namco Bandai Responds To The Fans

After the announcement of Tales of Graces f in Japan, a few fans posted on Namco Games's Facebook wall (this is the only Facebook presence Namco Bandai has). Namco Bandai posted a response, which simply stated they weren't currently localizing the game. This elicited a huge response from the fans at large, which posted hundreds upon hundreds of posts on their wall.

Namco Bandai had put up a second response, which used the phrase "series" instead of "Tales of Graces", which was taken down shortly after it was posted, creating even more fan posts. The company put up a third statement a few days ago which detailed the issues with localizing Tales games, but it still gave no word of any localizations.

New Tales PS3 Famitsu Details

PS3 by Shawn

Unlike our news articles earlier this morning concerning Tales of Graces f and Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3, we don't currently have a scan of the article concerning the upcoming next PS3 Tales title, but details from the scan have leaked out.

From various reports, the scan itself just contained a paragraph of text from Tales of producer Hideo Baba alongside the same piece of concept artwork we saw before. Baba stated that they are putting all of the technical knowledge they've learned over the last 15 years of the series into the title.

As for the current progress of the game, the basic framework is complete, which leaves them to start working on the actual game elements. He stated that while they can't show any screenshots or video of the game at the moment, they are putting their "full effort" into developing a game that can represent the game's 15th anniversary.

The currently unnamed game is currently set for a 2011 release date in Japan. No word on a North American or European version.

Tales of Series 2010 Lineup Presentation: New PS3 Tales

PS3 by Shawn

After our previous articles detailing the new information about Tales of Graces f and Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3 at Namco Bandai's Tales of Series 2010 Lineup presentation, we still have one more game to detail: the new PS3 Tales of title.

Right off the bat, producer Hideo Baba wanted to be clear that the rumoured "Tales of Unitia" name that has been tagged to the title isn't this title, as Namco Tales Studio is still deliberating the title for the game, as well as the character designer and the artist for the theme song, which makes sense as the game still is set for a release sometime in 2011. The only confirmation at the event was the art designer, Daigo Okumura.

As with the other two websites, the game also has its very own website, although it's just a teaser website with a countdown, currently with 135 days left to go, which would be around December 15, falling right around the series's 15th anniversary. More concept art is being shown on the website, although it's in lo-res form.

The unnamed title currently is set for a Japan-only release.

First Look at New PS3 Tales

PS3 by Shawn

Following our recent new of a PS3 version of Tales of Graces and a Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3, we have our first look at the next Tales of title, which will be hitting the PS3.

Tales of Unitia, Namco Bandai, PS3, Sony All that's visible on the scan is the platform, which is the PS3, and a single piece of concept art. Note that it isn't confirmed if this game is using the Tales of Unitia name as has been rumored. There is also a lack of any release date for the game, which might mean that the previous news of a Winter 2010 release was meant for Tales of Graces f, and this title won't be released until 2011 in Japan.

It's currently unknown when we might get more information about the title, since it appears that Namco Bandai is only putting out this information to satisfy the rampant speculation about the next mothership title in the series. When more information becomes known we'll be sure to report on it.
