Earlier today was the first day of Tales of Festival 2010, which brought some new news along with it, along with partial results of the Tales of Popularity poll that was going on at Tales Channel earlier this year.
Namco Bandai has confirmed the rumors that Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X will be having demos. The first demo will hit in early July, which will focus on the improved battle system in the Tales of Phantasia part of the game. Later in the month, a second demo will hit which features the Narikiri Dungeon X portion of the game. The rumored August 5, 2010 release date was also confirmed at the event.
As for the rumored PS3 Tales game, known as Tales of Unitia, the game was a no-show at the Festival except for a mention that this Summer a "major" announcement would occur. It's unknown why they would push the unveiling that far, but they may be putting some extra polish on the game and didn't want to unveil it just yet.
More news as well as the results of the popularity polls can be found in the full story.
A new Director's Corner Video has been added to the official minisite for Tales of VS. on Tales Channel, the Japanese hub for the Tales of series. The game will pit the various Tales of characters in a fighting free-for-all, using their well-known Artes, locations from the different games, and even items from the various games, as well as each character's unique Mystic Arte.
Like most of the videos, this iteration shows off Presea Combatir (Tales of Symphonia) sparring off against Rita Mordio (Tales of Vesperia). The director uses Presea's attacks to knock Rita into the air, then uses Artes to keep juggling her until he knocks her to the other side of the arena.
Later, Judith (Tales of Vesperia) spars off against Shing Meteoryte (Tales of Hearts). The director uses Judith's attacks to knock Shing into the air, then uses her aerial Artes to keep him in the air until he ends with a Mystic Arte (if you remember, Judith excelled at aerial combat in Tales of Vesperia).
Chester Barklight (Tales of Phantasia), Eugene Gallardo (Tales of Rebirth), Harold Belserius (Tales of Destiny 2), Kyle Dunamis (Tales of Destiny 2) and Presea Combatir (Tales of Symphonia) have all been officially added to the official minisite on Tales Channel, Namco Bandai's hub for Tales series updates in Japan, in one massive update. The game will pit the various Tales of characters in a fighting free-for-all, using their well-known Artes, locations from the different games, and even items from the various games, as well as each character's unique Mystic Arte.
The two female updates consist of Presea Combatir and Harold Belserius. Presea retains his Mystic Arte from the PlayStation 2 version of Tales of Symphonia, Crimson Devastation. Harold uses Crazy Comet, with all of the extensions (Twinkle Star, Mix Master, and Princess of Mermaid).
The three male updates consist of Chester Barklight, Eugene Gallardo, and Kyle Dunamis. Kyle's Mystic Arte is Zankuu Tenshouken, Eugene uses Shouha Rekkousen (this was originally a dual Mystic Arte with Annie Barrs), and Chester's translated to Divine Judgment, which happened to be a weapon used by Sheena in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World and was used as a Mystic Arte for Zelos in Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology --- this was never used for him previously.
