Namco Tales Studio Members Now In Namco Bandai Studios

by Shawn

Last year, word came out that Namco Bandai had dissolved Namco Tales Studio and reabsorbed the employees into Namco Bandai's main development wing. Now we know that said acquisition has a proper name: Namco Bandai Studios

The new studio is a gathering together of all of their other studios, including Tekken, Soul Calibur and Gundam, just to name a few --- including Namco's Tales of series. The group, which totals over 1,000 people, will also be in charge of developing new IPs for the company.

Namco Bandai Studios will officially open on April 2. It will be located in Shinagawa, Tokyo and will be headed up by Hajime Nakatani, who has had a hand in many of Namco Bandai's titles with the most prominent being the company's long-running Tekken series.

Tales of Xillia Gets In The Season With New DLC Costumes

XilliaPS3 by Shawn

It's been a while since we last heard about DLC for Tales of Xillia, which was right around the time of the game's release back in September. With the holiday season fast approaching Namco Bandai has announced a new set of festive-themed DLC for the entire playable cast.

Tales of Xillia will utilize the contrast between light and shadow, which will lead to the game having a different art style direction than Vesperia's anime-style graphics or Graces's watercolor-style graphics (it could be more of a hand-painted or oil painting-like feel if the concept artwork is any indication). Baba stated that when he saw some of the concept artwork images running on actual hardware he was very impressed.

The DLC will be added to the PlayStation Store on December 1, 2011. If you want the full set you'll have to buy each one individually as they will be sold individually for ¥300 each.

Namco Bandai Dissolving Namco Tales Studio

by Shawn

Namco Bandai has announced on their official corporate website that they will be dissolving its Namco Tales Studio subsidiary in the upcoming months following a transaction which will take effect on January 1 following a board approval on November 29.

As many already know, Namco Tales Studio is a wholly owned subsidiary of Namco Bandai that's responsible for the Tales of series of games and was founded on March 20, 2003. As of this April the company has 109 employees.

Namco Bandai didn't state any reasons for the move, but with Tales of Xillia's recent success and the prospect of a possible Tales of Xillia animation this move is likely aimed at bringing the subsidiary under the full wing of Namco Bandai and the company will still develop Tales games and will simply cease to exist as a public company.

If any more news breaks as to the exact details regarding this news we'll update this article.

Hearts, Destiny 2 And Tempest Characters Are Coming to Twin Brave

PSP by Shawn

After a string of trailers for Twin Braves we finally have another new batch of scans that have leaked and there's a ton of new characters that got announced along with it.

Unlike the other Tales escort titles on the PSP, this game plays similarly to the Musou/Dynasty Warriors franchise with the player controlling one character with a partner character being controlled by the game's AI. Characters from the mothership titles (and surprisingly enough Tales of the Tempest) will be included.

As can be seen in the scans, they confirm that Shing Meteoryte and Kohak Hearts from Tales of Hearts, Caius Qualls and Rubia Natwick from Tales of the Tempest and Elraine from Tales of Destiny 2 will be present in the game. The first four are playable characters while Elraine will take part as an antagonist.
