Welcome To Tales Union v3

by Shawn

If you're viewing this website right now and have been a long-time follower of the website, you may have noticed that things look a little bit different. We had partially teased it over at Final Fantasy Union, but never told exactly what it was about --- so here's the rundown of what's changed.

Unlike the Version 2 update, which radically changed the layout, this layout keeps the general design of the previous layout but cleans things up, which should give the site a little more breathing room than before. All in all, those who were used to to the previous layout should feel at home in this new layout.

(Apologizes for the lateness in getting this week's news review up, had a number of outside circumstances --- this includes the two other stories that broke earlier today, which will be up soon.)

This week was quite an interesting week. We got our first look at Tales of Xillia, and there was also number of news stories revolving around Tales of Graces f and Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3.

This week was quite an interesting one, indeed. With Tales of Graces release two weeks ago, there wasn't much information about that game, but Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3 sure did get a lot of press. And with only a few days till the presumed Tales of Xillia's reveal, this upcoming week should be one busy one for sure.

Namco Bandai unveiled their plans for new DLC for Tales of Graces f, including finalized release dates and pricing. We also heard some encouraging news about the sales figures for the game, as it surpassed the initial sales of the Wii version by quite a sizable amount.

Staff Blog: Winter Rush

Staff Blog by Shawn

Been a while, hasn't it? The last Staff Blog update was back in September, so I thought it would be a good idea to give an update to what was happening around the Gaming Union Network at large. ;)

As stated before, most of my time lately outside of a very hectic university semester has been a secret project for Gaming Union. While we're still not able to unveil it just yet, things are progressing nicely and more "normal" updates to Tales Union should be resuming in late January/early February if everything goes as planned.

There's a number of small modifications that will be made driven by the changes on the previously mentioned project, but the main focus will be getting sections like Games up-to-date and fixing some of minor bugs that have appeared over time (including a new and improved tag and pagination system), as well as getting sections like the Gallery back online.

As you can see from special features like the articles and the This Week in Tales, we're planning on resuming the posting schedule from back during the Summer, albeit with the absence of the Cosplay of the Week feature for the time being until the secret project is finished.

See you all next week!

Staff Blog: The Fall Winds Blow

Staff Blog by Shawn

Long time no see everyone --- been almost a month since Tales Union's last Staff Blog update. Since I haven't been very vocal on what has been going on, many might be wondering what's behind the recent vacancy of the community posts. That's what this news post aims to discuss, so let's get started! ;)

As many already know, Tales Union is part of the broader Gaming Union Network. My recent work has been coding for a new project for Gaming Union, the center of the network. While I can't give any specific details as to what exactly what I've been up to, I can say that you'll be amazed once you see it.

I've been the lead coder for the project, which is why Tales Union has somewhat suffered in community postings over the last month. That combined with a hectic university schedule (yay for two midterms back-to-back in two week :p) have taken up most all of my free time.

Thus, community updates will be stalled again until mid-October once the new project launches and my midterms are over. After both of them are over, things should be back to normal around here.

See you all in a few weeks!

Staff Blog: Busy Times, Busy Times

Staff Blog by Shawn

It's that time of the week (well, a day late, but we have a good reason for that :p) again --- it's another Staff Blog entry! As some of you may have noticed, we didn't have an entry last week. That was due to the launching of our new Videos section, among other things.

We were knee-deep in coding the section last Monday, so we couldn't reveal it just yet since the front-end wasn't really done (we only had the database backend setup at that point). We know our fans have been waiting for this section to re-launch, and we're glad it appears to have launched without a hitch.

It's pretty similar to the version we had on the old site, and even has some new additions like being able to share the video on the various social media channels. One missing feature we're working on is allowing comments to be made through the forums, much like comments for news stories. No ETA on this feature, but we are hoping to have it added sometime in the next few months.

See what else we have planned after the break.

Cosplay Of The Week: Claire Bennett

Cosplay by Shawn

Today's Cosplay of the Week is a day late (you can thank the Fall university semester down here in Florida :p), but we have a extra special entry lined up, with a cosplayer from one of the more unknown Tales titles that never hit Japan.

Claire Bennett is the center of this week's feature, which is cosplayed by hiko-hime. The cosplay takes place in a field during winter, which matches up nicely with the ice theme that was present in the beginning of game (as well as being the main character Veigue's main elemental attribute). The outfit is a very impressive real-world version of Claire's outfit in the concept art, and the detail to the hair is spot-on.

Cosplay Of The Week: Keele Zeibel

Cosplay by Shawn

We're a day late due to some unforeseen issues with backend upgrades, but we have another new, fresh installment of our new Cosplay of the Week series, in which we focus on the wonderful and amazing Tales cosplays created by fans around the world.

Keele Zeibel is the center of this week's feature. Cosplayed by roddzki, he has also cosplayed other Tales characters such as Reid.

The construction of the outfit matches up very nicely with the concept artwork and the hair matches Keele's enough, but without looking fake like some attempts on the character usually turn out, instead looking more realistic.
